For ATI, the latest hotfix / drivers are recommended For NVIDIA graphics cards, load the Control Panel and set the application profile for the game from “Adaptive” to “Max Performance” (under Power Management) Install the latest video card drivers (NVIDIA, ATI / AMD, Intel, etc) Run the game in Windows XP SP3 compatibility mode This includes if you have a black screen on launch (launch failure), freezing after the intro / introduction opening cinematic video, a choppy / slow / stutter / low rate of frames per second, etc. These fixes are pretty much the same regardless of the issue.
